911 or the 11th of September 2001 is the date on which Islamic terrorist launched a direct attack on the United States of America on its own soil. Islamic terrorists simultaneously hijacked four passenger aircraft and use them as missiles to attack high profile buildings in America, in order to inflict maximum casualties and carnage. The Twin Towers of the World Trade Centre in New York City were hit by an aeroplane each. A third aeroplane flew into the Pentagon and the fourth crashed near Shanksville, Pennsylvania. 2,974 people died that day, including the 19 hijackers.

Initially Al Qaeda did not claim responsibility for these attacks.
The Media speculated on possible motives for such a catastrophic attack:
- The United States providing AID to Israel
- The presence of non-Muslim US soldiers in cities that are considered 'holy' to Muslims.
- According Al Qaeda, the negative influences of the US in the way of life of the Saudi people.
- Aid of the Unites States to muslim governments who are not Islamic enough according Al Qaeda, e.g. Saudi Arabia.
- Struggle for Islamic rule in the world.
- The difference between poor and rich in the world.
The last 'motive' is given by Anita Roddick, founder of the successful international business The Body Shop as leader of the anti global movement [1] . This claim doesn't make sense because the majority of 19 suicide Jihadists were wel educated Saudi students; like their Al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden. Osama bin Laden is also a millionaire.
[edit] Al Qaeda
After 9/11 video messages were broadcast which featured Bin Laden. Al Qaeda didn't claim responsibility for the attacks but praised the 19 hijackers by proclaiming they will be in "paradise" for sure. After these attacks there has been much debate on whether these attacks are in line with orthodox Islamic teachings. Many apologists and dhimmi's are of the opinion that these things are not supported by Islam, the Quran or Muhammad's Sunna. The Qu'ran however contains many references on struggle against "disbelievers" (2:193 and 5:38). Likewise the ahadith attest to the fact that the actions undertaken by the hijackers on that morning are in line with Muhammad's teachings in the ahadith.

Several conspiracy theories soon appeared after the 9/11 attack. The first reported conspiracy theory was that Muslims that accused Jews were behind the 9/11 attacks. One can still sell those videos e.g. in a London mosque. Other conspiracy theories are made by critics of George W. Bush. Some of the more absurd theories are that no planes were flown into any buildings that day, that there were not actually any people on the aeroplanes and that they were flown by remote control.
[edit] Conspiracy Theory Documentary Loose Change
One of the most famous Documentaries about 911 is called Loose Change and covers all the 'evidence' and 'proof' claimed by those who subscribe to these conspiracy theories. The central theme is that the United States Government is wholely responsible for the attacks on that day. Some of the 'evidence' presented in the Documentary included the claim that the Government engineered the entire event; that there were 19 hijackers, and that they were claiming to follow Islam, but that they were really paid by the US Government to act this way, so that the US could 'scapegoat' the religion of Islam, which was peaceful, and an unwilling participant in all of this.
[edit] Claims about Islam in Loose Change
The Documentary presented a couple of pieces of evidence to prove that Osama bin Laden as shown in the tapes released after 911 was not the real Osama, but a paid 'lookalike'. The two claims made by Loose Change are as follows:
- In some of the Videos you can see that Osama is wearing a gold-coloured ring (or rings). Since Islam prohibits the wearing of Gold of any sort, this is not the real bin Laden.
- In some of the Videos you can see that Osama is eating with his Right hand. However Osama is Left-handed so this is not the real bin Laden.
It is true that Islam prohibits the wearing of Gold Jewelery for men; however there are no texts that say they cannot wear gold plate jewlery or bronze jewlery. All we see in the videos jewlery of a 'gold colour'. Regarding the claims about Osama eating with his Right hand, a simple search of the ahadith shows why Osama would have been doing this:
Ibn Umar reported Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: When any one of you intends to eat (meal), he should eat with his right hand. and when he (intends) to drink he should drink with his right hand, for the Satan eats with his left hand and drinks with his left hand.
After the Documentary was released a rebuttal was made called Screw Loose Change; it layers text over the original documentary video in order to point out all the errors, false claims & logical fallacies. This rebuttal documentary also pointed out the errant claims Loose Change had made about Islam. This prompted the makers of Loose Change to release a 'revised' version called Loose Change: Second Edition. Not suprisingly, the evidences regarding Islam had been removed.

Just before the 9/11 attacks, the Dutch Muslim broadcast organisation NMO had broadcast a Qu'ran verse that stated that all disbelievers should be burned in hell for eternity. After the official memorial broadcasting for the victims of 9/11, this recitation was repeated several times on Dutch television. Later they excused themselves saying that is was an accident and that they will adapt their programming in the future [2].
