Aisha
From WikiIslam
(Redirected from Ayesha)
Aisha was the nine year old wife of Muhammad. She was engaged to Muhammed when she was six year old. She was the daughter of Abu Bakr, a close friend of Muhammad.
Narrated 'A'isha (Allah be pleased with her) reported: Allah's Apostle (may peace be upon him) married me when I was six years old, and I was admitted to his house when I was nine years old. Sahih Bukhari Volume 7, Book 62, Number 64 Narrated 'Aisha: that the Prophet married her when she was six years old and he consummated his marriage when she was nine years old.
The age of Aisha is an actively contested issue with many Muslims claiming that she was older than 9 when married. See Aisha's Age of Consummation for more detail.
[edit] Aisha's dislike for Muhammad
Narrated 'Aisha: The things which annul the prayers were mentioned before me. They said, "Prayer is annulled by a dog, a donkey and a woman (if they pass in front of the praying people)." I said, "You have made us (i.e. women) dogs. I saw the Prophet praying while I used to lie in my bed between him and the Qibla. Whenever I was in need of something, I would slip away for I disliked to face him."
[edit] Pedophilia in the Quran
Besides the many Sahih hadiths which recorded Muhammad's marriage to 9 year old Aisha, Quran also permits sexual intercourse with girls who have not reached puberty:
And (as for) those of your women who have despaired of menstruation, if you have a doubt, their prescribed time shall be three months, and of those too who have not had their courses; and (as for) the pregnant women, their prescribed time is that they lay down their burden; and whoever is careful of (his duty to) Allah He will make easy for him his affair.
See Pedophilia in the Qur'an for more detail.
