[edit] How was Qur'an Revealed?
Lo! We revealed it (Quran) on a blessed night. Lo! We are ever warning
Lo! We revealed it (Quran) on the night of Power.
The month of Ramadan is the month in which the Koran was sent down.
And (it is) a Quran which we have divided (into parts), in order that you might recite it to men at intervals. And we have revealed it by stages
And those who disbelieve say: "Why is not the Quran revealed to him all at once?" thus, that you may strengthen your heart thereby. And we have revealed it to you gradually, in stages.
[edit] What was Man Created From?
Yusuf Ali: The similitude of Jesus before Allah is as that of Adam; He created him from dust, then said to him: "Be". And he was.
Yusuf Ali: But does not man call to mind that We created him before out of nothing?
Yusuf Ali: We created man from sounding clay, from mud moulded into shape;
Yusuf Ali: He has created man from a sperm-drop; and behold this same (man) becomes an open disputer!
Yusuf Ali: Created man, out of a (mere) clot of congealed blood:
[edit] Who was the First Muslim?
Yusuf Ali: And this was the legacy that Abraham left to his sons, and so did Jacob; "Oh my sons! Allah hath chosen the Faith for you; then die not except in the Faith of Islam."
Yusuf Ali: We appointed for Moses thirty nights, and completed (the period) with ten (more): thus was completed the term (of communion) with his Lord, forty nights. And Moses had charged his brother Aaron (before he went up): "Act for me amongst my people: Do right, and follow not the way of those who do mischief."
Yusuf Ali: "And I (Mohamed) am commanded to be the first of those who bow to Allah in Islam."
[edit] Are Allah's Decrees Changed?
Yusuf Ali: None of Our revelations do We abrogate or cause to be forgotten, but We substitute something better or similar: Knowest thou not that Allah Hath power over all things?
Yusuf Ali: Rejected were the messengers before thee: with patience and constancy they bore their rejection and their wrongs, until Our aid did reach them: there is none that can alter the words (and decrees) of Allah. Already hast thou received some account of those messengers.
Yusuf Ali: The word of thy Lord doth find its fulfilment in truth and in justice: None can change His words: for He is the one who heareth and knoweth all.
Yusuf Ali: When We substitute one revelation for another,- and Allah knows best what He reveals (in stages),- they say, "Thou art but a forger": but most of them understand not.
[edit] Was the Pharaoh killed?
Yusuf Ali: We took the Children of Israel across the sea: Pharaoh and his hosts followed them in insolence and spite. At length, when overwhelmed with the flood, he said: "I believe that there is no god except Him Whom the Children of Israel believe in: I am of those who submit (to Allah in Islam)."
Yusuf Ali: (It was said to him): "Ah now!- But a little while before, wast thou in rebellion!-and thou didst mischief (and violence)!
Yusuf Ali: "This day shall We save thee in the body, that thou mayest be a sign to those who come after thee! but verily, many among mankind are heedless of Our Signs!"
Yusuf Ali: Moses said, "Thou knowest well that these things have been sent down by none but the Lord of the heavens and the earth as eye-opening evidence: and I consider thee indeed, O Pharaoh, to be one doomed to destruction!"
Yusuf Ali: So he resolved to remove them from the face of the earth: but We did drown him and all who were with him.
[edit] Does Allah Command Evil or Not?
The Quran in the following verses says Allah won't command indecency or evil.
Yusuf Ali: When they do aught that is shameful, they say: "We found our fathers doing so"; and "Allah commanded us thus": Say: "Nay, Allah never commands what is shameful: do ye say of Allah what ye know not?"
Yusuf Ali: Allah commands justice, the doing of good, and liberality to kith and kin, and He forbids all shameful deeds, and injustice and rebellion: He instructs you, that ye may receive admonition.
Shakir: This is because your Lord would not destroy towns unjustly while their people were negligent.
But contradicts himself when he says he commands abomination.
Pickthal: And when We would destroy a township We send commandment to its folk who live at ease, and afterward they commit abomination therein, and so the Word (of doom) hath effect for it, and we annihilate it with complete annihilation.
