Amputation and the Wisdom of Islam

As the enlightened religion of Islam spread throughout the world, their medical doctors became world famous for cutting off hands and feet.
Protected Place – If someone
steals a fourth of a dinar of gold or the equivalent of goods worth three dirhams or the weight of three dirhams in silver on the day of the theft, his hand is cut off if he stole that from a protected place.
Open Place – His hand is not cut off if he snatches them,
which is when he takes something openly when someone is inattentive.
37.36b. Multiple cases of the same crime
First Time – In such a case of theft, the hand applies of a man, woman or slave is cut off.
Second Time – If the person steals a second time, his left foot is cut off.
Third Time – If he steals a third time, his left hand is cut off.
Fourth Time – If he steals a fourth time, his right foot is cut off.
Fifth Time – If he then steals again,
he is flogged
and imprisoned.
37.41. Pickpocketing and stealing public property
There is amputation for pickpocketing.
If someone steals from someone's sleeve,
his hand is cut off.
If someone steals from the granary,
his hand is cut off.
If someone steals from the treasury,
his hand is cut off.
If someone steals from the booty,
his hand is cut off.
The Surgical Procedure – The amputation takes place at the wrist and at the ankle.
