Prologue. Muslims in the western nations do not, in general, commemorate secular holidays such as Father's Day which is the 3rd Sunday of June. It is the purpose of this post to provide a road map for Muslims so that they can participate fully in this western tradition.

The Gift. Image:Farsideology_78.gif In the West it is a tradition for the family to give a small.gif t to the father on his special day. A Muslim father with four wives and households could develop a problem of .gif t duplication. To solve this problem, the four families can draw lots. Each wife will pick a color ball from a hat. The color will represent an article of clothing: red for shoes, green for socks, blue pants, and orange for shirts. Thus the problem of [size=18.gif t duplication </font> can be eliminated.

The Dinner. Image:Farsideology_meeting.gif Also in the West, the family will treat the father to dinner at some elegant restaurant. A Muslin father with four wives could develop a problem in the seating arrangements at the restaurant. Which wife will sit on his left side and which one will sit on his right side? Again, a simple lottery system will come to the rescue of the four wives. Each wife will pick from a hat a color ball representing a seating placement either on the left or right side of the father. The red ball represents the left side and the blue ball the right side of the father during the salad and desert portion of the meal. The green ball represents the left side and the orange ball the right side during the main course. The possible confusion of the seating arrangements can now be eliminated. When it comes her turn, she will unobtrusively take her proper place by her husband. Thus each wife will know where, when, and how long she may sit next to her husband.
