From WikiIslam
Farside’s Memory Verse of the Day
Muhammad had a black slave serving as a butler in the royal household who would notify the prophet of visitors.
Narrated 'Umar: I came and behold, Allah's Apostle was staying on a Mashroba (attic room) and a black slave of Allah's Apostle was at the top of its stairs. I said to him, "(Tell the Prophet) that here is 'Umar bin Al-Khattab (asking for permission to enter)." Then he admitted me.

The number of black slaves that Muhammad had serving the royal palace of Islam is comparable to the number found on a Mississippi plantation during the age of slavery in the Southern USA. Muhammad would have felt quite at home living in the early 19th Century on a plantation in Alabama, Georgia, or Mississippi. In the famous American Civil War movie, Gone with the Wind, the butler was a black slave..
