When using talk pages, please sign your username at the end of your comments so people can know who it was who placed the comment and reply accordingly.

1. Type 4 tildas (~~~~) manually. This will produce your signature and timestamp automatically.
2. An easier way: click the signature button in the edit toolbar above ().

[edit] Customizing your signature

If you want your signature to be something other than the standard signature provided by the software, you can customize it in the following way:

1. Click on my preferences
2. In the Nickname field, type in the HTML code for what you want your signature to appear as. In your signature, you can not only provide a link for your username, but you can also provide a link to your talk page or your contributions page. Here are a few example signatures and their codes:
   1. Infidel ^talk contribs
         Use code: - [[User:Infidel|<font size="3.5" color="green" face="Adobe Garamond Pro, Garamond, Georgia, Times New Roman">Infidel</font>]] ^{[[User_talk:Infidel|<font color="red">talk</font>]]} <small>[[Special:Contributions/Infidel|<font color="black">contribs</font>]]</small>
   2. Infidelicious ^Talk
         Use code: - [[User:Infidelicious|Infidelicious]] ^{[[User talk:Infidelicious|Talk]]}
   3. AndyJR ^Talk
         Use code: - <b>[[User:Andy|<font color="#330066">Andy</font><font color="#FF3333">JR</font>]] [[User talk:Andy|<font color="#483D8B">^Talk</font>]]</b>
3. In your preferences panel, make sure Raw signatures (without automatic link) is checked.
4. Save your preferences

Thats it. Now when you'll use the 4 tildas(~) or the signature button, your formatted signature will appear automatically in place of the standard signature.

Please dont use images or templates in your signature as this may cause unnecessary server load. If you want to use graphic symbols, you can choose from Wingding fonts which you can find on the web. For example the code for the word Infidel in Wingdings would be: <font size="4" face="Wingdings">Infidel</font>, which would produce: Infidel
